ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE: Enlace started as a Catholic Relief Services (CRS) project in 1998 with the objective of consolidating into one entity the different microfinance programs supported by the Catholic Church in El Salvador. Four organizations merged to create the new organization, and Enlace began operations in the city of Apopa. It provides quality financial services to the poor with more accessible pricing than their competitors, focusing on very small loans to the poorest segments of the population.

ENLACE's operations are concentrated in the central area of the country. The organization has recently opened new branches in the west and east, and 12 more branches are projected to be opened in the future—providing Enlace a presence in the entire country.
