Peruvian dairy farmer will share story of journey from poverty to empowerment with Seattle audience of 1,100
Albertina Calanchi is featured speaker at Global Partnerships' Business of Hope Luncheon

Seattle,WA - Albertina Calanchi, a 35-year-old dairy farmer from an indigenous community in the Peruvian Andes, will be the featured speaker at Global Partnerships’ Ninth Annual Business of Hope Luncheon in downtown Seattle on Wednesday, October 12, 2011.Born to parents who discouraged her from getting an education, Calanchi has forged her own path—with the help of Global Partnerships—as a successful entrepreneur, dairy farmer and community leader who is now able to give her two children economic and educational opportunities she never had. Calanchi is the first South American woman to speak at the Luncheon, which is expected to draw an audience of 1,100 people, including many of the region’s community, nonprofit and business leaders.
Another Luncheon highlight will be a keynote address from Seattle-based global health and business leader Steve Davis. Davis, Director of Social Innovation for McKinsey & Company, will share his own experiences as a philanthropist and social investor traveling and working in the developing world.
