| Together Sugey, Cristian, Elida and Magalis, who are sisters, started a cake-baking business. With their first loan from PRODESA, a Global Partnerships microfinance partner, they bought all of the necessary baking ingredients and a hand-mixer. As single mothers, they live to together to help support and raise each other’s children. With their home-based business, they are successfully providing for themselves and their families. As their business grows, and they are able to take a second loan, the sisters plan to use the money to take cake-baking and decorating classes to hone their skills. In addition, they intend to buy a tabletop mixer. |

"I am proud because I am a woman. In this country we are very discriminated against because we don't have a worthwhile job. We have received the funds to establish our own small business." |

"With the money we received, we were able to start up a small baking business. As single mothers, the loan helped us tremendously. The loans are very important, we individually could not obtain the loans. We can establish our own business and pay for it slowly. It doesn't hurt as much. The loans are very important." |
