Porfirio Artola
Senior Performance Analyst
Porfirio Artola joined Global Partnerships in June 2006 as monitoring and technical advisor for microfinance institutions. He is an experienced economist with a degree from Universidad Autónoma de Nicaragua (UNAN). Porfirio has worked in the microfinance industry for 10 years, advising microfinance institutions on best practices, developing business plans, conducting evaluations, and training personnel. He is also an expert in the monitoring and evaluation of agriculture projects.

Rick Beckett
President and CEO
Rick Beckett is a leader working to expand the reach of market forces to help people living in poverty and reduce global inequity. Rick became president and chief executive officer of Global Partnerships in 2006, where he directs GP’s growth and strategic expansion throughout Latin America. Rick also serves on the board of directors of Direct Relief International, an organization partnering with the private sector to provide more than $200 million in annual medical material aid to 49 million people in 59 countries. Rick has previously served on the founding boards of directors of a wide range of not-for-profit organizations including the Initiative for Global Development, My Friend’s Place Hollywood, and 1 in 6.
Prior to his leadership at Global Partnerships, Rick was managing director of a $112 million private equity fund investing in middle-market companies and early stage ventures. Rick spent 10 years at McKinsey & Company, where he was a partner serving companies and not-for-profit healthcare organizations on strategy and organizational performance. He is co-author of the bestselling book, Real Change Leaders: How You Can Create Growth and High Performance at Your Company (Random House, 1996). Rick holds a B.A. with distinction in economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. as an Arjay Miller Scholar from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Elizabeth Castleberry
Chief Development Officer
A development professional in Seattle for over 15 years, Beth leads the development and communications team at Global Partnerships. Prior to joining GP, Beth worked on the capital campaigns for the Seattle Symphony and the Seattle Public Library. Most recently she served as vice president of regional development at Washington State University. Beth has also served as vice chair of programming on the board of the Northwest Development Officers Association (NDOA) and as the fundraising chair for Spruce Street School, an independent school in downtown Seattle. Beth earned a bachelor of arts degree from Washington State University and is a graduate of Seattle’s Leadership Tomorrow program, Class of 2001.

Laura Fletcher
Executive Assistant
Laura Fletcher provides support to Global Partnerships’ management team and coordination for the organization’s board of directors and board committees. Prior to joining Global Partnerships, she worked with the organization Amigos de las Americas as project director in Valle, Honduras, organizing community development projects with young adults from the United States and Honduras. Laura has lived in Ecuador, Bolivia, Panama and Paraguay and has had the opportunity to travel extensively in Latin America. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for the Seattle Chapter of Amigos de las Americas as well the advisory committee for the Whitman College Mentor Program. Laura graduated with a B.A. in politics from Whitman College, and is thrilled to return to her hometown of Seattle to work for an organization that has an impact in Latin America.

Emily Gallup
Investment Operations Assistant
Emily Gallup joined Global Partnerships to support the Investment Team in raising microfinance funds, managing relationships with individual and institutional investors and facilitating the transactional aspects of relationships with partner microfinance institutions. She has a background in retail mortgage lending, and provided retirement plan advisory and client services support with an East Coast wealth manager. Emily has a B.S. in international affairs from Florida State University. She is pleased to be working with an organization committed to assisting people living in poverty gain access to economic self-sufficiency.

Jason Henning
Director of Development & Investor Relations
Jason Henning is responsible for major gifts, corporate contributions and investor relationships. Prior to his work at Global Partnerships, Jason spent six years in politics, working in Washington, D.C. and on several congressional and presidential campaigns across the country. Jason earned a B.A. in political science from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.A. in political science and is currently pursuing a master's degree from the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington.

Leanne Skooglund Hofford
Foundations Officer
Leanne Skooglund Hofford is the Foundations Officer at Global Partnerships. She brings 20 years of experience in advocacy, communications and fundraising in the nonprofit sector. Her professional experience includes working as a journalist with a human rights organization in Buenos Aires, leading the international development policy work of an interfaith advocacy organization in Washington, D.C. and serving as a grants consultant to a variety of nonprofits in the greater Seattle area. Leanne earned a B.A. in journalism and Spanish from Butler University and an M.A. in Latin American studies from Georgetown University. She has lived in México, Ecuador and Argentina and has traveled throughout Latin America.

Beth Irwin
Development Operations Manager
Beth Irwin is responsible for information management, reporting and gift processing for the Development team. She received her B.A. in Spanish literature from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. Through her degree program, Beth had the opportunity to travel and live in various parts of Latin America, as well as Spain. Her interest in the Spanish language and a desire to contribute to the fight against global poverty led her to our organization. Beth is a Seattle-area native who is interested in contributing to both local and global communities.

Rebeca Lastres Valdez
Performance Analyst
Rebeca Lastres joined Global Partnerships in June 2007, where she is in charge of the administration of the Latin America office. Prior to joining Global Partnerships, she worked in finance and administration for Calvet & Associates, ProCredit and Fundación Bancaixa, where she acquired experience in financial analysis of diverse sectors. She has an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance, and completed her postgraduate studies in financial auditing in Spain.

Chris Megargee
Development Officer
Chris leads our PartnerTrips to Latin America, plans our annual Business of Hope Luncheon, and coordinates community engagement for Global Partnerships. He has lived, worked and studied in Bolivia, El Salvador and Spain, and has traveled extensively throughout Central and South America. Inspired by the positive social impact of community radio in Latin America, Chris worked in broadcasting for ten years prior to joining Global Partnerships in 2005. He holds a B.A. in religion from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and a graduate certificate in Hispanic ministry from Maryknoll School of Theology. Chris thoroughly enjoys facilitating opportunities for people to learn about and support our mission, and he is honored to work each day for practical solutions to global poverty.

Dick Moxon
Director of Investment Analysis
Dick Moxon is part of the Latin American Programs team and directs the search for, and evaluation of, new microfinance investments. He has worked with Global Partnerships since 2001, and has enjoyed having the opportunity to use his background in business and Latin America to contribute to the expansion of microfinance. For most of his career he was a professor of international business at the University of Washington, and was the founder of the university's Global Business Center. He has taught at business schools and executive development programs in Asia, Europe and Latin America. He holds degrees in engineering and business administration from Stanford and Harvard, and he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia from 1964 to 1967.

Gary Mulhair
Chief Investment Officer
As chief investment officer at Global Partnerships, Gary Mulhair directs investments in our Latin American partner programs. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Community Wealth Ventures, Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based business consulting organization. He has many years of experience in the human services sector, as he spent 14 years as president and CEO of Pioneer Human Services, developing growth strategies and implementing new programs. Mulhair has also done independent consulting in management, development and marketing with clients such as the Corporate Council for the Arts, Seattle Pacific University and the Fannie Mae Foundation. An active community member, Mulhair served on many local boards of directors and advisory committees, including Governors Task Force on Food Banks, Pioneer Cooperative Affiliation, Vashon-Maury Health Services Center, Washington Community Corrections Association, South Seattle Community College and Global Partnerships.

Daniel Näf
Senior Investment Analyst
Daniel Näf joined Global Partnerships in February 2005 and is responsible for the financial due diligence concerning potential participating microfinance institutions in Latin America. Daniel is a C.P.A. and has experience in external financial auditing and analysis, having worked for international audit firms such as KPMG in Switzerland. He also has a background in commercial banking, auditing and accounting and has worked for several Swiss private enterprises in the administrative and financial areas. Daniel moved back to Nicaragua in 2004, where he lived previously from 1993 through 1996 while working as a volunteer for Dianova, a European non-governmental organization that works with homeless children.

Margaret Philip
Accounting Officer
Margaret Philip joined Global Partnerships in February 2006. Her professional career includes managerial roles in finance in the publishing and financial services industries. Margaret began her career in Seattle as a Certified Public Accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1983. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Gonzaga University.

Hana Rubin
Communications Officer
Hana Rubin coordinates Global Partnerships’ communications efforts. Prior to joining Global Partnerships, she worked in the communication unit of ITTO, an intergovernmental organization based in Yokohama, Japan. She has also worked for Citizens Funds, a socially responsible mutual fund company based in Portsmouth, NH. Hana received a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.A. in international environmental policy from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Her experience in international communications, socially responsible investment and sustainable development led her to Global Partnerships, where she is excited to contribute her skills to find real solutions for people living in poverty.

Alberto Solano Roca
Latin American Programs Director
Alberto Solano joined Global Partnerships in February 2003. A native of Guatemala, Alberto is passionate about the work that Global Partnerships does for his region. Alberto works with our existing partners, evaluating their needs and strategic plans, and assisting them in building their organizational capacity. He also researches new potential partners and represents Global Partnerships in our relations with other organizations in the region.
Alberto is an agronomist educated at Zamorano. He received an M.B.A. from INCAE, Central America's premier business school. He has experience working in all of the countries in Central America plus Mexico and the Dominican Republic. He began his career with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, where he worked in the microfinance department. Prior to joining Global Partnerships, Alberto ran his own consulting company specializing in sustainable development and microfinance.

Gerardo Talavera
Performance Analyst
Gerardo Talavera joined Global Partnerships in August 2007, where he works directly with microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the monitoring process. He is an economist and previously worked in the MIX Analytical Unit in Central America for the Regional Network REDCAMIF as coordinator. He has conducted multiple monitoring and performance evaluations in all Central American countries, getting great experience in the analysis of MFIs. He is also author of the first benchmarking in Central America, which has given him wide knowledge of the industry. In his free time, Gerardo serves as a pastoral member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Managua.

Ricardo Visbal Ágredo
Investment Analyst
Ricardo Visbal joined Global Partnerships in July 2007, where he is in charge of researching and analyzing potential microfinance institution (MFI) partners. He is an industrial engineer with a background in information systems and business administration. Ricardo has more than eight years of experience in financial, administrative and information systems, and gained experience evaluating MFIs and implementing information system solutions while working with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.

Kimberly Vora
Director of Investment Operations & Performance
Kimberly Vora joined Global Partnerships in November 2005, where she directs the
implementation of our investment transactions and oversees the business and social performance monitoring of our microfinance institution (MFI) partners. Prior to joining Global Partnerships, Kimberly worked for Hate Free Zone Washington, a Seattle-based civil rights organization, where she worked on immigration policy and raised the organization’s $500,000 annual budget. Her past experience includes working for Oxfam America as policy research associate, with a focus on international agricultural trade and development. Kimberly received an M.A. in international affairs from Johns Hopkins-SAIS in Washington, D.C., and a B.A. in economics and international studies from Kenyon College in Gambier, OH. She has also studied in Argentina, Costa Rica and Ecuador.
