Improving Health and Economic Position

In some developing countries, medicines are the largest health expense for poor households. Rural populations must often travel long distances to even access basic medicines they need.

 

Global Partnerships (GP) aims to improve the health of families living in poverty by investing in a community network of women-owned pharmacies designed to improve access to and reduce the cost of essential medicines.

 

Who is Served?
The target demographic is rural households living on less than $3.10/day.

What is Delivered?
• Access to essential medicines, supplies, and basic health information
• In some cases, very basic diagnosis and care is offered.
• Entrepreneurs receive loans, training, access to medicines

Family health improves and household costs are reduced due to:
• Improved geographic access
• Improved affordability
• Timely/ appropriate treatment
• Entrepreneurs have a new source of income and improved livelihood
